Day 012

Dear dreamer,

Challenged Once again

One of my biggest mentors as far as I can remember has always been my dad.  I love my mum but my dad is someone I respect so much. Maybe because we share a lot in common. We believe strongly in having big dreams and goals and living it, we love to acquire knowledge, we love books, talk about books we have read and share them with each other, just so many other things. More importantly, he always tells me that he had faith that whatever I made up my mind to do, I could do it and it was obvious he believed it from the way he would react every time I told him about a new challenge I was taking on. My mum would sometimes flinch a little or ask questions that indicated doubt but my dad did not, if he had doubts, he did a good job hiding them.

This morning, he called me to share some things he had gained from a seminar with me like we usually do and I told him simply that none of it was old news to me - have big challenging dreams, have clear goals, focus on the journey not destination. This were things I knew and he told me that he believed me but all I ever do is to say and plan, never doing anything. He said I need more action to back up how much I knew and that went to my head very quickly. I want to do more for myself and prove him wrong. I clearly have this chance to live my dreams and I would not waste it.

While our journey to our dreams might be a personal one, there is no need to make it lonely. Surround yourself with people who believe in you. One of my favourite policies is -go hard or go home. If I would travel through life in a company, they would have to be worth it or I let them go. Let the people who are your close friends or confidant, partners be people who believe in you. They might not have the same dream or even understand it but they will cheer you on and support whatever your dream is. Don't let people who don't care about you nor your dreams into your circle. Do the same to others so you can be part of a community that holds each other up whenever needed.

I am definitely more motivated to take on more. My team...that's something we will leave to discuss later. Still penniless but I have plans...yes, I just wrote 'plans'
